Live Aqua Punta Cana is a recently opened and completely new all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana, which is the perfect option for couples and adults looking for an upscale and elegant environment. Amazing à-la-carte lunches and dinners, spacious rooms with state-of-the-art technology and a pool bar with extended opening hours are just some of the highlights at Live Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana. But all that glitters is not gold. In this Live Aqua Punta Cana review, we’re also showing you the points that are far from perfect and tell you where this adults-only resort surprised us.

Reading resort reviews is important before deciding on a place to stay, which is why this Live Aqua Beach Resort review highlights all the different advantages and disadvantages of this relaxing Punta Cana all-inclusive adults-only resort. Where is Live Aqua Punta Cana?
Live Aqua Punta Cana is located in Uvero Alto, a resort area of approx. 25 miles north of Punta Cana Airport International. Thanks to the quick highways in Punta Cana, your airport transfer in Punta Cana still only takes around 40 minutes to bring you to the first resort of Live Aqua in the Dominican Republic. The easiest option is to prebook your airport transfer, for example here*.
Live Aqua Punta Cana is bordered by Jewel Punta Cana on the one side and breathless / Dreams Onyx on the other side, even though there is still an empty property in between.
If you leave the resort walking, there is not much to explore from Live Aqua Punta Cana as Uvero Alto is pretty much dominated by resorts. However, you can walk – both along the beach or on the road – to Playa Palmera, where you can find some public restaurants and local gift shops. You can also walk along the beach for approx. 10 minutes until you reach Tropical Treasures, one of the best massage spots in Punta Cana.
If you want to check the exact Live Aqua Punta Cana location, you can have a look at our article about the Punta Cana resort maps – here you can see Live Aqua in Uvero Alto as well.
Definition of Live Aqua Punta Cana
This adults-only resort is fairly new, the Live Aqua Punta Cana opening date is only dating back to February 2021. Therefore, you can mostly find Live Aqua Punta Cana under its original name, as there haven’t been any rebrandings so far.
Still, when people sometimes refer to Live Aqua Punta Cana, they also sometimes call it Live Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana, Aqua Live Punta Cana, Live Aqua Resort Punta Cana or Live Aqua Beach Punta Cana. Less common names are Live Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana All Inclusive Adults Only, Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana, Punta Cana Live Aqua or Dominican Republic Live Aqua Punta Cana.
Important: please don’t confuse Live Aqua Punta Cana with Zoetry Agua Punta Cana (which is also located in Uvero Alto) or Be Live Collection Punta Cana (which was closed in 2023). Those are different resorts.
Overview of Live Aqua Punta Cana
Live Aqua is one of the newest all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana as it was just opened in February 2021. The Live Aqua Punta Cana opening date was the 1st of February 2021.
As it was constructed completely from scratch, all materials and amenities are pretty brand-new and interestingly enough, even after more than two years, you hardly can see any signs of wear and tear, which isn’t always the case with new hotels in Punta Cana – see for example Riu Republica or Temptation Miches Resort.
In general, Live Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana All Inclusive Adults Only is a medium-sized property, where the distance from the lobby to the Live Aqua beach is around 1000 feet, which means a 4-5 minute walk.
As always with our Punta Cana Travel Blog resort reviews, we start with a general overview of Live Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana so that you know what to expect. As with basically all resorts in Punta Cana, you enter the property at the main gate and reach the lobby, where you get greeted and do your check-in. The lobby is neither tropical nor classical, it features a rather contemporary and minimalistic design. It features a modern touch even though it doesn’t have any Caribbean vibe. However, the massive multi-level waterfall does give the perfect introduction to the Live Aqua (which translates to water) theme.
On the upper floor of the lobby, you can also find all the à-la-carte restaurants for dinner. All of these feature indoor and outdoor seating. From those terraces, you have a marvelous view of the resort.
The upper level is also home to the gym, the sports bar and the Aqua Club, which is kind of like the VIP tier respectively the premium lounge of Live Aqua resort.
If you walk to the ground level (or take the elevator), you’ll find the lobby bar, the buffet (only open for breakfast – one of the specific features we’ll discuss further below in this Live Aqua Punta Cana review), the coffee shop and the theatre.
In the same place, you can also find some wonderful outdoor terraces where you can enjoy your coffee in the afternoon or your drink at night.
Walking from this centric area of the resort towards the beach, you’re quickly passing all the other important parts of Live Aqua Resort Punta Cana. To the left and to the right you can find 3 three-storey accommodation buildings on each side, both surrounded by green, even though not super tropical gardens. Quickly you pass the first pair of pools (there is a total of 5 pools at Live Aqua + the swim-up suites) which are usually always empty – perfect if you just want to relax in peace without anyone around.
Shortly after, there is a second pair of pools, where you can also find a bar in the middle of them. Bali Beds and sun loungers are widely available at these pools.
After those pools you have reached the most centric area of the resort – at least during the day: the main pool, beach club and three-storey pool house building.
Let’s start with the poolhouse which is home to the swim-up bar and the main pool. The cool thing about the pool bar is that it is partly shaded – hence you can enjoy the drinks the entire day in the pool without getting sunburnt.
Special feature: this pool-up bar is open until 7 p.m., which is one hour longer than at most other all-inclusive hotels in Punta Cana, including other adults-only resorts in Punta Cana.
On the first floor, you can find the Huzur restaurant, which is open for lunch – a perfect option for an elegant lunch while overlooking the pool and the beach.
And on the upper floor, you can find the Moon Bar, which unfortunately was closed during our visit – but you still can relax here and enjoy the view.
Last but not least you find the Miraflores Beach Club restaurant next to the main pool with a view of the beach. I’ll explain further below in the restaurant section of this Live Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana review why you shouldn’t miss lunch at this place.
The beach at Live Aqua Punta Cana
Finally, you have reached the beach. As mentioned further above, the walking time from the lobby to the beach is around 4 minutes, which is the common average in most of Punta Canas’ all-inclusive resorts.
You are probably not visiting Live Aqua Punta Cana if you’re looking for the resort with the most spectacular beach in Punta Cana. Even though Uvero Alto has some nice stretches of beaches, particularly around Excellence Punta Cana and Zoetry Agua, most of the resorts in Uvero Alto are not known for the most amazing beaches – so is Live Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana. However, this doesn’t mean, that you have to abstain from going to the beach, as even the Live Aqua Punta Cana beach is much better than many other beaches you have seen before. This particular stretch just can’t compete with Punta Cana’s best beaches, such as Bavaro Beach or Playa Macao.
Another important fact is that the Live Aqua Punta Cana Beach is a bit more prone to seaweed than other beaches in the area. If you haven’t heard about seaweed before, check out the full guide about seaweed and sargassum in Punta Cana.
If you love beach walks, you have a strategically good position from Live Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana All Inclusive Adults Only. To the northwest, you can walk more than 4 miles and to the east around 0.5 miles.
The rooms at Live Aqua Punta Cana
Live Aqua Punta Canas’s rooms are one of the highlights and are what sets it most apart from other resorts. The 347 rooms, making Live Aqua Beach Punta Cana a small to medium-sized resort, are spacious, contemporary and much more than the typical room with a king bed, balcony and bathroom.
Right when entering your room at Live Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana, you see that the design is different. The bathroom is completely open, but with a closed toilet and a closed shower for privacy – especially the shower is super spacious and perfect for couples. There is a double-sink area with many bathroom amenities, including tailor-made natural soap.
Next to the large and comfy king bed, there is a seating area as well as a relaxing area, including chairs, tables and sofa. You have an elegant beach bag in your room as well as Live Aqua branded flip-flops.
The balcony is also much larger than in your typical Punta Cana resort. It features a seating area with two chairs and a table, a lounge area with day bed towels as well as a large jacuzzi for 2 people.
However, as it sometimes comes with super trendy rooms, there are a few flaws as well. As the wash basin is right behind the bed, some drops of water might fall on your partner when you wash your hands at night. Furthermore, there was no proper space to hang towels for drying.
WiFi is included throughout the resort and works very well. You don’t have to connect several times – once you’re online, you stay online.
The Live Aqua Punta Cana photos you see above from the rooms are from our Premium Garden View Room. However, all room categories are pretty similar and mainly differ in the view or whether they are swim-out rooms or not. Furthermore, the special suites as well as the Aqua Rooms feature access to the Aqua Club lounge.
When visiting this resort, you have the choice among the following Live Aqua Punta Cana room categories:
- Premium Garden View
- Premium Deluxe Garden View
- Premium Pool View
- Premium Deluxe Pool View
- Aqua Swim-Up Garden View
- Aqua Swim-Up Pool View
- Fuego Suite (Fire Suite)
- Tierra Suite (Earth Suite)
- Viento Suite (Wind Suite)
- Luna Suite (Moon Suite)
- Honeymoon Suite
Some further differences among these rooms at Live Aqua Punta Cana are:
Premium Deluxe Rooms (check prices here*):
Premium Deluxe Rooms at Live Aqua Beach Punta Cana are pretty similar to the regular Premium Rooms. They get an additional 10% discount on Bali Beds and spa treatments as well as a welcome amenity and an upgraded minibar.
Aqua Swim-Up rooms (check prices here*):
Access to the Aqua Club lounge (see the separate section below in this Live Aqua Punta Cana review for further advantages of the Live Aqua Club), à-la-carte ocean view breakfast, swim-out suite, two welcome amenities and 15% discount on Bali Bed rental and spa treatments.
Viento Suite / Wind Suite (check prices here*):
Among the suites, this Live Aqua Punta Cana room is the one with the best price-value ratio. The wind suite is one of the most spacious suites at Live Aqua Resort, measuring more than 1300ft². Those are the suites with a prime view, mostly on the beach and/or the ocean, and an infinity pool to thoroughly enjoy the stunning Caribbean setting. You have access to the Aqua Club lounge and daily à-la carte breakfasts with ocean views. You also get a beach cabana free of charge as well as free access to the humidity areas and water ritual at the spa, each for one day, among some further discounts on extra services at Live Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana. It is also the perfect suite if you’re planning a couple’s holiday in Punta Cana.

Booking and Prices at Live Aqua Punta Cana
The Dominican Republic’s Live Aqua is an upscale resort in Punta Cana and can be seen as one of the most interesting adults-only resorts in Punta Cana. However, I wouldn’t rate it a high-end hotel or a super-luxury resort – unobtrusive luxury might be the better term. As an example, our stay at Finest Punta Cana was a bit more luxurious than the one we describe here in this Live Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana review.
Still, you can expect great quality for your money, especially in the low season when prices start from 300 USD per room per night. Currently, those prices are available for October 2023. Further low season rates for Aqua Live Punta Cana can be found in October and November 2023 as well as in June and July 2024 with rates available from 380 USD per double room per night. Particularly for July 2024, this is pretty affordable and impressive, as most resorts in Punta Cana charge some kind of intermediate rates for July and August.
If you traveling to Live Aqua Punta Cana during the high season 2024 (January to April), expect rates of at least 550 USD per night per room, being on par with other upscale all-inclusive adults-only resorts in Punta Cana.
If you’re not sure where to book your stay at Live Aqua, you can compare the best prices here*. Also, have a look at the following table with all of your favorite websites where you can book Live Aqua.
If you haven’t booked your flight to Punta Cana yet, it might also make sense to check if a holiday package, consisting of flights, ground transfers and all-inclusive accommodation at Live Aqua, might be cheaper. Sometimes this is the case, sometimes not. You can find some attractive package deals here*, particularly if coming from the east, northeast, southeast or the Midwest of the United States.
Restaurants and bars at Live Aqua Punta Cana
We always have great fun exploring the food and drink options at Punta Canas’ all-inclusive resorts and reporting about them in our extensive resort reviews here on the blog. I mean, why book an all-inclusive meal plan if not trying out all the culinary options you have?
Foodwise, Live Aqua Punta Canas restaurants were top-notch, particularly the quality. We had an outstanding Asian dinner at Seishin and a marvelous beachfront à-la-carte lunch at Miraflores – just to name two examples.
This is also one of the biggest advantages of Live Aqua Punta Cana: beachfront lunch for everyone and unlimited à-la-carte dinners. The buffet is not even open for lunch and dinner, which means you can enjoy high-quality à-la carte meals at least twice a day – plus the large buffet for breakfast. But don’t worry, if you’re not up to a proper lunch because you rather want to enjoy the pool or the Live Aqua Beach in Punta Cana, you can also grab some quick food from the little snack bar behind Miraflores. But we recommend you to enjoy this marvelous experience of a beachfront lunch at least once.
The unique thing at this Punta Cana all-adults resort is that you not only have one restaurant for lunch, but you can even choose between two. As an alternative, you also have the casual Huzur restaurant, which offers a mix of Dominican and Mediterranean cuisine and not less attractive pool views.
For a better overview, here is a list of choices you have when looking for Live Aqua Punta Canas’ restaurants:
Breakfast:
- Liberi, an international buffet restaurant
- Miraflores, beachfront à-la-carte restaurant (only for Aqua Club guests)
Lunch:
- Huzur, Dominican-Mediterranean à-la-carte poolside restaurant
- Miraflores, à-la-carte beachfront restaurant specializing in Ceviche
Dinner:
- Seishin, Asian à-la-carte restaurant
- Sospiro, Italian à-la-carte restaurant
- Chez Rose, French à-la-carte restaurant
- ATL, Mexican à-la-carte restaurant
Snacks and out-of-hours food:
- The Compton Street, a sports bar with a pub food menu (from early to late)
- Cool Fever, a coffee shop with pastries, sandwiches (incl. to-die-for veggie burritos) and sweet delicacies (incl. ice cream) (from early to late)
- Miraflores snack buffet, during the day (between the pool and the beach)
- Room service, included at Live Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana
As you can see, you have many choices among Live Aqua Punta Canas’ restaurants and everything we tried was delicious with lots of flavor. Plus the menus are very creative and offer many different dishes, so you have much more than just 4-5 options as in other all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana. Just the Italian restaurant couldn’t convince us that much.
Drinkwise, Live Aqua Punta Cana couldn’t live up 100% to our expectations, but this is our personal opinion (as the entire Live Aqua review here), particularly as they hardly had natural juices available (except at the breakfast buffet, which had an amazing mix and match juice bar). Furthermore the selection of premium brands was just good, but not extraordinary like one might expect from a resort of that level. Other premium resorts in Punta Cana usually have more choices available. If you’re at any Dreams Resort in Punta Cana (which are not the most luxurious resorts in Punta Cana), for example Dreams Royal Beach or Dreams Flora, you have more brands and choices included – and even more, when you’re staying at a Preferred Club room.
Furthermore, even though the coffee shop officially has smoothies, they hardly have fruits for them – usually only in the morning, when there is also the amazing juice station at the breakfast buffet.
Still, you can get some really good drinks at Live Aqua Punta Cana, particularly considering that there are a lot of bars, among them a lobby bar, the sports bar, a beach bar, the theatre bar, the swim-up bar and a bar in the middle of the resorts between the quiet pools.
Particularly worth mentioning is the swim-up bar at Live Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana All Inclusive Adults Only, which was open until 7 p.m. – 1 hour longer than at most other all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana.
Entertainment and service at Live Aqua Punta Cana
The entertainment at Live Aqua was maybe what surprised me most. Before visiting this resort for our Live Aqua Punta Cana review, I always thought that Live Aqua is a particularly social and active hotel, with a lot of entertainment and nightly activities. Not necessarily a party resort in Punta Cana, but I thought that it comes close to Royalton Chic for example, where you don’t find massive parties, but a lot of social activities and events. But this is not the case.
Live Aqua is one of the quietest and most relaxed resorts we have been at in recent years. It is perfect if you want to relax without having too much hustle and bustle. The nights are very easy-going and also during the day, you always find a lot of quiet spots.
However, this doesn’t mean that your vacation at Live Aqua Punta Cana will be boring. There is a full schedule of different day-time activities throughout the resort, incl. pool activities, outdoor sports or a few sessions focused on social interaction.
At night, there is usually a Live music session and Live Aqua features a theatre as well, even though it isn’t used as regularly as in other adults-only resorts in Punta Cana. Furthermore, you can play pool or darts at the sports bar.
For those who are used to enjoying drinking and mingling until the wee hours, there is also a disco and nightclub at Live Aqua which is open until 2 or 3 a.m.
Sports options are not that plentiful at Live Aqua, as there are no tennis courts or other ball game options, except for beach volleyball. However, there is a very well-equipped gym with a large variety of state-of-the-art fitness equipment. We loved to be in there and exercise a bit.
Service at Live Aqua Punta Cana was mostly professional and well done, even though there were a few employees who might have had not their best day. But still, everything was fine and the one time we ordered room services it worked perfectly and didn’t take too long.
Aqua Club (VIP Level) at Live Aqua Punta Cana
Aqua Club is the name of Live Aqua Punta Cana’s VIP Level which comes with additional amenities. However, the Aqua Club is not as prominently placed as in other resorts in Punta Cana, such as Secrets Royal Beach or Grand Bavaro Princess. In other words, you don’t feel obliged to buy the upgrade to Aqua Club if you have reserved just a regular room.
The following Live Aqua Punta Cana room types give you access to the Aqua Club advantages:
- Aqua Swim-Up Garden View
- Aqua Swim-Up Pool View
- Fuego Suite (Fire Suite)
- Tierra Suite (Earth Suite)
- Viento Suite (Wind Suite)
- Luna Suite (Moon Suite)
- Honeymoon Suite
When having the status as an Aqua Club guest, you can enjoy the following advantages:
- Aqua Club Lounge with personalized services and separate reception
- Upgraded liquors and daily snacks in the Aqua Club Lounge
- Beachfront à-la-carte breakfast at Miraflores restaurant
- Butler service during your stay

Interchanging facilities between Live Aqua Punta Cana and other resorts in Punta Cana
As this is the first Live Aqua resort in the Dominican Republic, there aren’t any other resorts you can visit during your stay. As you can find all amenities and services right at Live Aqua Punta Cana there is also not much need to visit other hotels.
Excursions from Live Aqua Punta Cana
Live Aqua is located in the Dominican Republic, hence it is recommended that you also explore some unique places in the country. While there are not that many things to do on your own around Uvero Alto, there are some fantastic Live Aqua Punta Cana excursions you can undertake.
Remember when we were talking about the Live Aqua Punta Cana location? Uvero Alto, the community where this all-inclusive resort for adults-only in Punta Cana is located, is one of the most northern areas of Punta Cana. This means you’re closer to some of the coolest natural attractions and things to do in Punta Cana, particularly those further north in Punta Cana.
One of them is Montaña Redonda, one of the best hidden gems in Punta Cana. It is a pretty interesting mountain with spectacular views and some giant swings on the edge of the mountain, which guarantees some unique photo opportunities.
Usually, a tour to Montana Redonda is combined with a trip to Playa Esmeralda, one of the most virgin and untouched beaches of the Dominican Republic. It is worth going there before resorts are built, the first ones are already in progress.
If you head further north, you can also find Los Haitises National Park, one of the most important and most beautiful national parks in the Dominican Republic. Fortunately (for you), not many people are heading there, hence you can enjoy the national park completely peacefully and see a lot of smaller local wildlife, such as frigate birds, crabs, or many other animals that call the mangrove system their home. You can also see Taino paintings at Los Haitises and explore many different islands and bays.
However, if you rather prefer a Live Aqua Punta Cana excursion on the ocean, I have two special tips for you. One is only available from January to March, but it is one of the most spectacular highlights you can experience in the Dominican Republic: whale-watching!
And the second one is an easy-going snorkeling and catamaran tour. Considering you’re staying in an adults-only resort in Punta Cana, the following super-rated adults-only catamaran and snorkeling tour* is one of the best options if you’re looking for a relaxed half-day excursion from Live Aqua Punta Cana.
For all other Live Aqua Punta Cana excursions, I can highly recommend checking the following table, where you can find the best-rated excursions from this resort – all with pick-up included and hundreds of five-star reviews.
The best Punta Cana Excursion | Review Score (as of February 2024) | Duration | Price (as of February 2024) | Further information |

Summary
A stay at Live Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana All Inclusive Adults Only definitely lives up to its name: an upscale all-inclusive experience in an adults-only environment with plenty of pools to choose from. While rooms and food were top-notch and having two à-la-carte restaurants to choose from during lunch – incl. one fantastic beachfront restaurant – is something you not even find in some of the most luxurious all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana, the beach and the choice of alcohol brands were not as spectacular as you might find it in other comparable resorts in Punta Cana, even though they were not bad at all. Furthermore, you can enjoy fantastic rooms and a perfectly quiet atmosphere, which makes it a perfect choice for honeymooners and couples in Punta Cana who are not looking for so much hustle and bustle. Still, you don’t have to worry about getting bored as Live Aqua has a full activity schedule and the swim-up bar is open until 7 p.m. It is easy to connect with like-minded travelers and enjoy the adults-only experience.
In total, Live Aqua is a great choice if you’re looking for an easy-going upscale adults-only holiday in Punta Cana without too much of a party atmosphere. If elaborate food, plenty of pools and contemporary rooms are important for you, this will be a top choice.
