Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana
Secrets Royal Beach is one of my favorite hotels when it comes to Punta Canas’ all-inclusive resorts with adults-only swim-up rooms. It got completely renovated during the Covid-19 pandemic, is a well-managed adults-only resort on a beautiful stretch of beach (famous Bavaro Beach), offers no-reservation dining throughout all the restaurants and has a fantastic Preferred Club Lounge right at the beach. All of those features make Secrets Royal Beach a great hotel for honeymooners and couples, particularly those looking for a premium resort with upscale services.
Secrets Royal Beachs’ swim-up rooms are divided into three different room categories:
- Junior Suite Private Pool
- Preferred Club Junior Suite Swim Up
- Preferred Club Junior Suite Private Pool
As you can see, there are not only swim-up rooms at Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana, but there are also rooms with a private pool. While the swim-up rooms are usually located along a river-formed pool and allow you to properly swim and mingle in there (some of the swim-up rooms also have a connection to the amazing waterfall pool including the Preferred Club swim-up bar), the private pool rooms at Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana feature a small private pool where you have much more privacy than in a swim out suite.
All the Secrets Royal Beach swim-out suites and private pool rooms (see room details here*) feature a balcony or terrace with furniture, a hydro-tub, air conditioning, a daily refreshed mini-bar, flat screen cable TV, electronic in-room safe and a work desk, among others. They are all sized at least 430 square meters, and the maximum occupancy usually is 2 adults, even though few rooms are equipped with 2 queen beds instead of 1 king bed and therefore can host up to 3 guests.

Two of the most popular choices when it comes to adults-only swim-up rooms in Punta Canas’ all-inclusive resorts are Excellence Punta Cana and Excellence El Carmen. Both hotels are well-known for their high quality when it comes to service, food, amenities and room design, as well as the perfect vibe between creative activities, high-class entertainment and pure relaxation. They also offer some of the best drinks among all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana and have a no-reservation policy for all of their culinary experiences (except show-cooking restaurants), which can compete with other high-end hotels in Punta Cana.

When looking at the Excellence Punta Cana swim-up suites, it is important to understand the difference between the regular rooms and the Excellence Club swim-up rooms as well as the difference between the swim-up suites and the plunge pool or private pool suites.
In most cases, the name is self-explaining. The Excellence Club rooms come with additional advantages, such as access to the Excellence Club Lounge, two Excellence Club pools, access to a private beach area, upgraded in-suite premium liquor, a complimentary beach bag and access to the exclusive Magna Restaurant. The other difference is that swim-up suites have direct access to a larger swimming pool while plunge pool or private pool suites have their own small pool on the terrace. My favorite would be the Excellence Club Suite with Private Pool Ocean View (check room details prices here*) as it combines the privacy of a private pool with magnificent ocean views. Just keep in mind that it won’t be 100% private as you might slightly peek into the suite from the beach.
For Excellence El Carmens’ swim-up suites, the differences are very similar to those at Excellence Punta Cana. My top recommendation here would be the Suite with Private Pool and Deck (check room details and prices here*), as it is – compared to the standard category at Excellence El Carmen – not that much more expensive, but you have a beautiful private pool and even additional space on your terrace and the deck.
As you can see, if you’re looking for a Punta Cana resort with a swim-up room, there is no other hotel with more choices and options than both Excellence Resorts, Punta Cana and El Carmen. Catalonia Royal Bavaro
Catalonia Royal Bavaro is another Punta Cana all-inclusive resort that is labeled as adults-only and has pretty cool and unique swim-up rooms. The resort has a vibe like a smaller boutique hotel as it only counts 278 rooms, located on a tropical property that features many romantic corners, individual design and a very relaxed vibe, making it one of the quieter and more romantic all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana. Considering its affordable pricing, it is also one of the cheaper adults-only resorts with swim-up suites in Punta Cana.
Among the 7 room categories at Catalonia Royal Bavaro, there are 2 which are interesting when looking for a Punta Cana hotel with swim-up rooms:
- Privileged Deluxe Junior Suite & Swimming Pool
- Privileged Duplex Suite & Swimming Pool
The Privileged Duplex Suite & Swimming Pool rooms (check room details and prices here*) at Catalonia Royal Bavaro are pretty spectacular. You have your own two-story villa with a super large terrace, some floating devices and an even larger private pool – just for you, with views on the resort, as the duplex suites and the pool are slightly elevated compared to the rest of the resort.
While those Duplex Suites are more a kind of a private pool suite, The Privileged Deluxe Junior Suite & Swimming Pool rooms (check room details and prices here*) are more like a typical swim-out suite. The rooms, which have a size of around 500 ft², have a terrace with direct access to a swimming pool, which is shared with your neighboring rooms – similar to many other Punta Cana swim-up rooms. However, here at Catalonia Royal Bavaro, they have a small barrier in between, hence even if it looks like a bigger pool, you won’t have any neighbors swimming right in front of your terrace, which adds some privacy. Please note that these swim-out rooms at Catalonia Royal Bavaro are not as modern as in other Punta Cana resorts, but on the other hand you can enjoy very affordable prices in this adults-only all-inclusive resort with swim-up rooms.
Another plus of those swim-out suites is that both room categories, the Privileged Deluxe Junior Suite and the Privileged Duplex Suite, enjoy the Privileged advantages at Catalonia Royal Bavaro, which include a dedicated beach zone, a 10% discount on many hotel services and a privileged identification which might also help with restaurant reservations. As for the entire hotel, you also have access to neighboring Catalonia Punta Cana, which has more entertainment and an absolutely gorgeous beach.
Be Live Collection Punta Cana Adults Only
Another affordable resort in Punta Cana that offers an adults-only environment and swim-up rooms is Be Live Collection Punta Cana Adults Only. It is important to know that this is a separate section within the main resort, Be Live Collection Punta Cana, which offers a more intimate feeling, more personalized services and higher quality than the principal hotel. Therefore it should be considered as a separate resort with swim-out rooms in Punta Cana and you should take care when booking that you book Be Live Collection Punta Cana Adults Only, and not the main resort Be Live Collection Punta Cana.
When planning to visit Be Live Collection Punta Cana Adults Only, there is just one category that does have swim-out rooms:
- Master Suite Swim Out
While those rooms are not among the most stylish ones, they are one of the most spacious Punta Cana swim-up rooms. You can count on around 600 square feet, equipped with a bathtub, air-conditioning, four-poster bed, separate shower and toilet and a furnished terrace, among other amenities. The suites (check out room details and prices here*) are a bit elevated compared to the level of the pool, which means even if people are swimming in the pool, they hardly can see the room. What’s great about the pool is that it offers perfect opportunities for swimming, as it is designed river-style and it is pretty long with an island in between.
Be Live is perfect for adults and couples who are looking for a low-key holiday in Punta Cana without breaking the bank. Compared to other adults-only resorts in Punta Cana like Majestic, Secrets or Excellence, it is one or two steps down in quality, but considering the price you pay, you get an amazing price-value ratio with good food, decent house wine and lots of activities. The suites at Be Live Adults Only are definitely among the cheapest Punta Cana swim-out rooms you can find.

Royalton Chic Punta Cana
Royalton Chic is another great option when looking for a swim-up suite in Punta Cana. Similar to the other hotels presented above, it is an adults-only resort and offers a sophisticated and entertainment-oriented vibe. It hosts tons of activities including pool parties, nightly shows and disco performances, which secures Royalton Chic a spot on the list of the best Punta Cana party resorts as well. In fact, Royalton Chic Punta Cana is a great option if you’re looking for entertainment and activities with occasional parties without foregoing quality, as the restaurants, service and drinks at this adults-only all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana are top-notch, particularly considering the reasonable price you pay here.
When staying at Royalton Chic, there is just 1 swim out suite room category available:

However, even though Royalton Chic Punta Cana only features one category this doesn’t mean that they are not worth booking. First of all, they come with a prime location, as all Royalton Chic Punta Cana swim-up rooms are located close to the ocean. Second, they feature all the VIP advantages of Royalton Chic as the swim-out suites are located in the Diamond Club section. This Preferred Club section comes with additional amenities, such as butler service, preferential reservations in à la carte restaurants (even though reservations are not mandatory at Royalton Chic Punta Cana), an exclusive beach area with dedicated bar and waiter service, access to the Diamond Club Lounge and complimentary access to the Mermaid pool.
The Royalton Punta Cana swim-out rooms called Diamond Club Luxury Suite Swim Out (check room details and prices here*) feature all the important amenities you expect from a 5-star resort in Punta Cana, such as air-conditioning, a bathroom with separate shower and toilet, a fully-stocked minibar, flatscreen TV, unlimited WiFi and much more. The terrace leads you directly to the swim-up pool, which is connected with other swim-out suites but also features personal sun loungers in a particularly flat area of the pool, which makes using them a special experience. “Getting tanned in the water” would be a suitable headline for these swim-up rooms at Royalton Chic Punta Cana.

Let’s have a closer look at which are some of the best ones in this category, including some pretty cool family swim-up rooms.
The Finest Punta Cana
We have had Excellence Punta Canas’ swim-up suites further above in this exclusive list. Even though both of these Excellence Resorts are adults only, there are some news. At the end of 2021, a third resort managed by the Excellence Group and with a similar quality to both existing Excellence hotels has opened. Finest Punta Cana is its name and it was constructed as a family resort, hence you enjoy many different family amenities, such as extended family menus, play areas in every restaurant, family amenities in the suites and a VIP lounge exclusively for families. As you can see 14 out of the 16 categories are plunge pools or private pool suites, hence not a proper swim-up room. A private or plunge pool means that you have your own pool, which is separated from others and much bigger than a regular jacuzzi. However, it is more a pool to dip into and enjoy a drink, it is too small to swim – opposed to a swim-out room, where the pool is large enough that you can move and swim along the pool.
With the categories mentioned above, it is important to know the differences between the Excellence Club categories, the Finest Club category and the regular room categories (which don’t mention Excellence Club or Finest Club in their name). The Excellence Club room categories, including the swim-up suites, are only for adults. They are coming with similar Excellence Club privileges than those mentioned above for Excellence Punta Cana and Excellence El Carmen, including access to three adults-only restaurants, among them one exclusively for Excellence Club guests. Finest Club is the family version of the VIP status, hence you enjoy similar privileges, but have access to the Finest Club Lounge (for families) instead of the Excellence Club Lounge (for adults only). Therefore, if traveling to Punta Cana as a family, the Finest Club room categories offer the best value and service for you.
If you are looking for a proper Finest Punta Cana swim-out room (which is not a plunge pool or a private pool), you only have the choice between two room categories: Excellence Club Junior Swim-Up Suite and Junior Swim-Up Suite (check out prices and room details here*).
This being said, if traveling as a couple, you can choose the Excellence Club Junior Swim-Up Suite at Finest Punta Cana (check room details and prices here*), for a family the Junior Swim-Up Suite (check prices here*) would be the perfect room. The maximum occupancy of the latter one is 4 persons. In case you’re traveling in a party of 5 and prefer a private pool or swim-out room, the Finest Club Pool Family Suite, the Finest Club Imperial Family Suite With Plunge Pool or the Pool Family Suite (check prices for these rooms here*) are your best choices as they all fit up to 5 people.
Princess Family Club
Princess Family Club is another family all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana with swim-up rooms. It is sharing the property with Grand Bavaro Princess, a completely renovated and super modern hotel in the Bavaro Beach area. Princess Family Club is a separate section within this hotel. While guests of Princess Family Club have access to the entire Grand Bavaro Princess and therefore can choose among more than 10 restaurants (incl. food trucks, a pizzeria and an ice cream shop), guests of Grand Bavaro Princess don’t have access to Princess Family Club, hence it feels like a small little family oasis. And indeed oasis is the right word as this section just consists of one major building which surrounds the main pool, the children’s water park, the family restaurant and the kids and teens club.
In general, Princess Family Club only has two room categories, of which one does have a swim-out:
- Family Club Junior Suite swim-out
During our stay here, we stayed in a swim-out suite (check room details and prices here*) and loved the place as it offers the perfect combination between family amenities, comfort and direct access to the pool. While the suite offers the option for bunk beds, an occupancy for up to 5 guests and various family amenities like toys, sweets or colorful bathrobes, the terrace is perfect to relax for the parents while the kids can play in the pool.
Considering the affordable price of the Punta Cana swim-up rooms at Princess Family Club Bavaro, the suites are perfect for families who don’t want to break the bank when traveling to Punta Cana. Still, you enjoy a lot of amenities and a well-designed resort with attention to detail and delicious food as it offers a great price-value ratio. Kids will be amazed by watching the wildlife at Grand Bavaro Princess’ lake and mangrove area, where you can find flamingos, ducks, geese, peacocks and iguanas, among others.
Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana
If you’re looking for a Punta Cana resort with swim-up rooms on a particular pristine beach without any other all-inclusive resort around, Dreams Macao Beach might be a great option for you. It is a newly built hotel in Punta Cana that just opened its doors at the beginning of 2020, hence it is nearly brand-new and welcomes you with contemporary design, spacious suites and modern architecture. It is located right at Macao Beach, which is famous among locals (during the weekends) and one of the most beautiful beaches in Punta Cana. Dreams Macao Beach is not a Punta Cana family resort per sé, but it offers many family amenities, such as a toddlers water park, another water park with a lazy river and various slides as well as extensive kids club and teens club programs.
When looking for swim-up suites in Punta Cana at Dreams Macao Beach, you can choose among 4 categories:

All suites are sized at least 600 square feet, the master suites are even double as big. Besides the modern design, rooms at Dreams Macao Beach all feature a furnished balcony, air-conditioning, an in-room tablet, a minibar and a flat-screen LED, among others.
As you can see, all of the Dreams Macao Beach swim-up rooms are Preferred Club Suites, adding additional privileges to your stay, such as access to the Preferred Club lounge, Preferred Club family pool section, dedicated beach area, upgraded amenities in the room, butler service and access to the Preferred Club bar and restaurant, which serves à la-carte meals for breakfast and lunch.

As with other Dreams Resorts in Punta Cana, you can dine as often as you want in the different à-la-carte restaurants, get international premium brands at all the bars, enjoy several day and night-time activities and have 24-hour free room service.
When checking Dreams Punta Cana for swim-out rooms, there is only one category you can book:

What’s famous about the Dreams Punta Cana swim-out rooms (check room details and prices here*) is that they feature access to one of the longest pools in Punta Cana. Right from your terrace, you can enter a pool that is around 1300 feet long. If you would swim once back and forth including all corners, you would cover an impressive distance of 3000 feet.
Besides the pool access, Dreams Punta Canas’ swim-up suites feature the standard amenities you can expect from such a resort, incl. a terrace, TV, air-conditioned, fully-stocked minibar, bath amenities and in-room safe. The rooms at Dreams Punta Cana are not the newest ones, but they are well-maintained and clean. As they have 1 king bed, the Dreams Punta Cana Deluxe Swim-Out Room category fits a maximum of 2 adults and has a size of around 300 square feet.
Lopesan Costa Bavaro
Lopesan Costa Bavaro is a great hotel for everyone looking for entertainment, a lovely beach, marvelous views, super tropical and cozy rooms as well as – of course – swim-up rooms in Punta Cana. What’s unique about Lopesan Costa Bavaro is that they offer something for everyone, especially thanks to their entertainment boulevard, where you have a lot of shops, cool bars, activity options, a water park for kids and a busy ambiance at night.
Talking about Lopesan Costa Bavaros’ swim-up suites, you can choose among three different options:
- Junior Suite Swim-Up
- Adults Only Junior Suite Swim-Up
- Unique Club Junior Suite Swim-Up
First of all, what’s unique about all three categories of swim-up rooms in this Punta Cana hotel is the beautiful design. I have hardly seen rooms in any Punta Cana resort before where the designers have achieved such a perfect combination of a tropical feel, unobtrusive elegance and a comfortable way of living. One has to admit that all rooms at Lopesan Costa Bavaro are simply beautiful.
When it comes to the swim-up rooms in this Punta Cana all-inclusive, you can expect spacious suites with around 600 square feet, all amenities, a separate shower and toilet, comfortable beds and seating areas, a wonderful design and a spacious terrace with a connection to the pool. Each of the swim-out pools is usually shared with around 3-4 other suites.
As you can see in the list of swim-up rooms, Lopesan Costa Bavaro offers 3 different room categories. Size, design and amenities are similar in all those rooms, but there are additional services you can enjoy when booking the Adults Only Junior Suite Swim-Up or the Unique Club Junior Suite Swim-Up. Both can be seen as the VIP Level at Lopesan Costa Bavaro, even though it doesn’t offer that important (additional) services like in other resorts in Punta Cana.

When booking the Unique Club Junior Suite Swim-Up (check room details and prices here*), you can enjoy the Unique Club service, which are, among others, access to the Unique beach club, priority reservations for à la carte restaurants and access to the exclusive Mareas restaurant. For the Adults Only Junior Suite Swim-Up (check room details and prices here*), you can enjoy a separate very quiet area a bit in the back of the resort, which features a separate pool and an adults-only bar, but it doesn’t include further privileges like for the Unique Club rooms.
Grand Palladium Bávaro Suites Resort & Spa

Grand Palladium Bavaro Suites Resort & Spa in Punta Cana only has one swim-up room category – but it is a pretty amazing one:

This Punta Cana swim-up room is located directly at the beach, hence you can not only enjoy a dip into the pool every time you want, but you can also enjoy an amazing view of Bavaro Beach from your room and your pool. It is a very exclusive category as there are only a handful of swim-out suites at Grand Palladium Bavaro Suites Resort & Spa, but those which are available are incredibly beautiful.
The suites (check room details and prices here*) are tastefully decorated and feature a king-size bed and a sofa bed as well as a hydro-massage bathtub. The suite is sized around 350 square feet and can hold up to 4 persons, among them a maximum of 3 adults. What’s particularly beautiful about those swim-up rooms are the Bali bed on your terrace as well as the illuminated pool, which makes up for a wonderful atmosphere at night – particularly considering that you can hear the palm trees swaying and waves lightly crushing when everything else is quiet around.
